There are many options for walking the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage route through the southern Kansai region(Kii Hanto). You will take around 1hour walk or a week long trek through the mountains. In July 2004, the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes were registered as UNESCO World Heritage as part of the “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range” property.
